Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona has sworn in Assistant Governor Lyn Javier as the new deputy governor of the central bank’s Financial Supervision Sector (FSS), succeeding Chuchi Fonacier, who retired on 1 August.
The oath-taking ceremony was held on 11 August at the BSP’s head office in Manila.
As head of the FSS, Javier will oversee the supervision of banks and other financial institutions under the BSP’s jurisdiction, in line with its mandate to promote financial stability.
Javier began her BSP career in 1998 as a bank officer in the supervision sector. She rose through the ranks and, in 2021, was appointed assistant governor of the FSS’ Policy and Specialized Supervision Sub-Sector.
In that role, she led the development of supervisory policy and data management, and supervised treasury, trust, information technology, and anti-money laundering operations of financial institutions.
She holds a Master of Business Administration from Ateneo de Manila University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accountancy, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines.
A certified public accountant, Javier represents the BSP in the Financial Reporting Standards Council and has served as the BSP’s delegate to the Basel Consultative Group, the Executives’ Meeting of East Asia-Pacific Central Banks Working Group on Banking Supervision, and the Network for Greening the Financial System’s workstream on scaling up green finance.
