With three episodes to go, and more than two million views and counting, Puregold Channel’s Sol at Luna, without a doubt, has hit a mark in viewership.

Dolly Dulu directs the digital series. Screenplay writer is John Carlo Pacala in collaboration with Dulu. The story of a younger man, Sol (Zaijan Jaranilla), falling for a slightly older miss (Jane Oineza) gets a fresh makeover in this romantic drama that explores love, loss, friendship, romance and all its complexities.

Real deal

The biggest draw of this Puregold Channel offering is definitely its lead stars, Jaranilla and Oineza, Giving life to a young man struck by Cupid’s arrow and a woman who has had her fair share of achy breaky and scars, this dynamic duo own their characters, and give them the authenticity and vulnerability they richly deserve.

Also, the clever narrative makes the protagonists flawed, making irresponsible choices and eventually learning from them. The emotional truth that the actors give Sol and Luna makes them all the more relatable. Rawness and realness are the qualities that Jaranilla and Oineza gift their characters.

Adding more flavor, hook, humor and punch to the Sol at Luna world are the characters played realistically well by Uzziel Delarmide, Lyle Viray, Karina Bautista, Marnie Lapus, Joao Constancia and Cheene Crab. These actors deserve a pat on their backs for giving so much to the series.

Another main asset of the YT drama is its narrative. It is rich, well-written and bravely presented. Internal struggles of the characters are magnified, allowing its audiences to exorcise their anxieties, burnouts and other issues together with the characters. It’s an entertaining manner of emotional detoxification.

Another aspect of the digital series that receives much praise is its cinematography, which adds to the allure and texture.

With its concluding episodes airing on Puregold Channel in the next three Saturdays, there is no doubt Sol at Luna will be watched till its final credits. And here’s hoping a Book Two happens.
