A 33-year-old Massachusetts woman had a freak accident while stargazing at the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Arizona, USA a year ago.

While shooting the night sky, a wayward bat got entangled with Erica Kahn’s camera and part of the creature went into her mouth, NBC News reports.

As a precaution against rabies, the then unemployed Kahn bought a health insurance policy online to cover the cost of anti-rabies shots.

Kahn got her series of rabies and immunoglobulin vaccinations from clinics in Arizona, Massachusetts, and Colorado, according to KFF Health News.

While it was a relief that she was safe from the deadly disease, the medical bills totaling $20,749 shocked her as the insurance did not cover much of the cost.

But Kahn’s misadventure with her mouth paled in comparison to a Bulgarian social media model who overdid her facelift.

Andrea Ivanova started undergoing lip enhancement and other facial cosmetic procedures in 2018. By 2022, the cost of her lip filling reached an outrageous $26,000, New York Post (NYP) reports.

“My doctor was afraid to inject more hyaluronic acid into my lips, but I was adamant that I wanted more, and I would not stop,” she said, according to NYP.

She ignored her doctor’s warning that her injection obsession was dangerous — and potentially fatal — but the expert advice wouldn’t change her mind, NYP reports.
