Fuel station leak at ACC raises safety advisories

Fuel station leak at ACC raises safety advisories

A gas leak at a fuel station inside the Alabang Country Club forced a temporary closure and prompted safety advisories across Ayala Alabang Village, officials said Tuesday.

The leak was first detected around 6:20 p.m. Monday when security personnel from the Ayala Alabang Village Association reported a strong fuel odor along Acacia Avenue.

An initial investigation by the club’s engineering team pointed to a possible leak from one of five underground fuel tanks operated by Petron.

The management of the gas station dispatched a technical team to the scene, and the Bureau of Fire Protection arrived around 9 p.m. to assess the situation. The drainage system was flushed as a precaution to reduce fire risk.

The gas station has been closed indefinitely while safety assessments and remediation efforts continue.

Residents and staff at the nearby De La Salle Santiago Zobel School also reported a strong fuel odor along a creek running through the area. As a result, the school implemented an early dismissal for some students Tuesday and suspended onsite classes for its night school.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid the creek, keep doors and windows closed, and refrain from lighting open flames. Residents experiencing dizziness, headaches or nausea were advised to seek medical attention.
