Figure skaters Isabella Gamez and naturalized Filipino Aleksandr Korovin clinched a bronze medal in the pairs category of the Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy at the Mall of Asia skating rink on Monday.
Gamez and Korovin scored a total of 143.49 points in the short program and free skate to land a podium finish.
Gamez said she hopes she will be able to shake off some rust after getting the podium in their first tournament of the season.
"I'm very disappointed on myself but I can't this affect us since it is our first competition of the season. We will learn from our mistakes and we will work harder," Gamez said.
Zhang Jiaxuan and Huang Yihang won the gold with a total of 190.23 points while Ryom Tae Ok and Han Kum Choi of North Korea came at second place with 151.14 points.
