In a bold move aimed at restoring stakeholder confidence and expediting a long-delayed infrastructure project, the Alabang Country Club, Inc. (ACCI) has officially terminated its agreement with the contractor responsible for the redevelopment of its driving range facility.
In a full disclosure statement released to members, ACCI President Francis Edward B. Puno said the Board of Directors approved the recommendation of the Construction Committee to sever ties with the contractor, citing repeated delays, unfulfilled obligations, and lack of good faith from the firm.
The driving range project, originally launched to address structural and safety concerns, was later redesigned to better meet the evolving needs and preferences of the club’s members. A contractor was selected based on its solid track record and high rating, with expectations of completing the project in a timely manner.
However, those expectations were not met.
“The driving range completion is way overdue beyond anyone’s patience and common sense,” Puno stated in the letter.
Despite numerous follow-ups and reminders, the contractor reportedly failed to respond or act in good faith to fulfill its commitments. In response, the club’s legal counsel has been tasked with initiating legal action to terminate the contract and seek damages.
“We do not take this matter lightly, and we will not tolerate any possible misdeeds,” the letter read. “The interest of ACCI is paramount, and we will exercise all options to ensure completion and satisfaction.”
With the backing of the board, the Construction Committee will now oversee the transition of the project to new hands. ACCI plans to bring in fresh crews under direct supervision of management, with a renewed sense of urgency and accountability.
A revised completion target has been set for the end of September, marking a new chapter in what has been a frustrating and prolonged delay for club members eager to see the facility back in operation.
Puno appealed for continued understanding from members, acknowledging the inconvenience the situation has caused while reaffirming the club's commitment to transparency and timely resolution.
“We beg for your indulgence and further patience at this time,” he said.
The driving range project has become a flashpoint for discussions among members about project oversight and contractor accountability. With new crews and leadership now poised to take over, members will be watching closely to see if the club can deliver on its renewed promise.
