Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) Foundation turned its 35th anniversary into a moment of compassion by donating sacks of rice worth P3.5 million to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), aiming to help families impacted by recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon.
The donation was announced during the foundation’s anniversary event on 25 July by TMP and TMP Foundation chairman Alfred V. Ty, who underscored the company’s long-standing commitment to uplifting lives.
“Our hearts go out to everyone severely affected. In the spirit of community, the Foundation has pledged a cash donation of 3.5 million Pesos specifically for the procurement of rice, a staple food for Filipinos,” said Ty.
He also acknowledged how the public's trust in Toyota has helped fuel the foundation’s mission. “Each and every Toyota vehicle you have helped put on the road has, in turn, allowed the TMP Foundation to give back to the Filipino people - moving their lives and helping give them a better quality of living,” he added.
TMP Foundation officials led by president Jose Maria Aligada and assistant vice president and operations manager Nelson Manglo joined DSWD officials during the ceremonial turnover at the DSWD National Resource Operations Center in Pasay City. Also present were TMP first vice president for Corporate Affairs Josephine Villanueva, DSWD Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations Paul Ledesma, and other partners.
The rice donation will support communities that were hardest hit by floods and displacements, ensuring they receive essential food supplies in the aftermath of the severe weather.
TMP Foundation continues to put people first, still after over three decades of service, proving that progress on the road also means showing up for communities when it matters most.
