The Department of Justice (DoJ) on Monday affirmed its full support for the Marcos administration’s justice priorities but cautioned against the premature release of details regarding ongoing investigations, including those potentially linked to the previous drug war.
Justice Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Atty. Mico Clavano stated that the DoJ is eager to hear President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s “guiding ideas” for the justice sector during his fourth State of the Nation Address.
“Anyone wants to hear the game plan and strategy for the remaining three years of the administration. The DoJ has always been and will always be supportive of this administration,” Clavano said.
When questioned about potential discussions on ongoing drug-related investigations, Clavano stressed the DoJ’s cautious approach to public disclosures.
Regarding illegal online gambling, Clavano clarified that the DoJ’s role is to enforce the law based on the executive branch’s legal framework.
“Our role is to implement the law. So whatever the legal framework is, that is what we will work within. If the President says this zone is legal or illegal, we will implement that directive,” said the DoJ spokesperson.
