
Alex Eala suffered an early exit in the Canadian Open after a 6-3, 1-6, 2-6 loss to Markéta Vondroušová of the Czech Republic in the first round at the IGA Stadium in Montreal on Monday (Manila time)
Eala, 20, fought hard before losing to the former Wimbledon champion in two hours and six minutes.
The Canadian Open is Eala's first competition after her short break in the Philippines.
Eala's next tournament will be the Cincinnati Open from 7 to 18 August at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
