The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) has ordered a 15-day suspension of service disconnections by Manila Water and Maynilad, following the damage caused by Tropical Storms Crising, Dante, Emong, and the Southwest Monsoon.
The agency said Friday that the temporary suspension, effective from 25 July to 8 August, covers residential and business accounts within the concession areas of both water providers.
However, it excludes cases involving service tampering, violations of the Water Crisis Act, or other illegal activities.
“At this critical time, when access to clean, safe, and reliable water is essential to protecting public health, the MWSS RO has likewise instructed the Concessionaires to ensure water supply availability for all customers,” MWSS RO Chief Regulator Patrick Lester N. Ty said.
“Rest assured that the MWSS RO will continue to implement proactive measures to support communities and protect consumer welfare, especially during this time of adversity,” he added.
