BAGUIO CITY — In times of calamities, government as well as non-government organizations, civic groups and philanthropists are always ready to give relief goods and financial assistance to the people struck by unfortunate events.
Meanwhile, a partylist group is targeting to ease the burden of families of those departed especially the poor ones. Kilos Mamamayan (KM) Ngayon na! will be giving free coffins through its “Libreng Kabaong” initiative.
According to KM Partylist Congressman Kenneth Tereng, the initiative will be launched on Thursday, 24 July at Tubao, La Union. He said it is part of their “Lingap para sa Naulila Program.”
“Out of deep respect for the dignity of life and death, we believe that everyone deserves a respectful and humane final rest. Through the free casket initiative, we aim to ease the financial burden on grieving families during one of the most difficult times in their lives,” Tereng stressed.
