Malacañang on Wednesday assured the public that the National Food Authority (NFA) holds sufficient rice stocks to last for 12 days, even as tropical storm “Dante” and tropical depression “Emong” bring heavy rains across the country.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro disclosed that the NFA is prepared to release its reserves to requesting local government units and relief agencies.
Castro cited that the NFA has already dispatched 6,600 sacks of rice to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Tarlac for ongoing relief operations.
Additionally, 200 sacks were turned over to the local government unit in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
No damage has been reported to NFA warehouses, including those in Occidental Mindoro and Valenzuela City, which were heavily impacted by typhoon “Crising” and the southwest monsoon.
“Nationwide, no stocks were damaged, and the NFA is ready anytime to release stocks to requesting LGUs and relief agencies,” Castro said.
