The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) suspended classes and government work Tuesday in 11 areas due to continuous heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon, except for agencies providing essential services.
Affected areas are Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Pangasinan, Tarlac, and Occidental Mindoro. Private companies may independently decide on work suspensions.
As of 5 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast rainfall of 100 to 200 millimeters in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, and Occidental Mindoro Tuesday. Pangasinan, Tarlac, Laguna, and Quezon are expected to receive 50 to 100 millimeters.
Authorities advised residents to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides.
