From singing in front of a home camera for her mom overseas to winning the hearts of millions as the first Kapuso Big Winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition, Mika Salamanca’s journey is nothing short of a homegrown fairytale — heartfelt, humble, and filled with purpose.
Fresh off her history-making victory with on-screen partner Brent Manalo, Mika now finds herself at the center of both renewed fame and rediscovery. Her old childhood videos — where she can be seen belting out songs like Sarah Geronimo’s “Sino Nga Ba Siya” and Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” — have resurfaced online, tugging at the hearts of fans and reminding them of the raw, unfiltered beginnings of the young woman they now admire.
In a recent media conference for Sparkle’s PBB housemates, Mika revealed the deeper story behind those touching clips.
“My mom was an OFW, and she couldn’t attend any of my school performances,” she shared emotionally. “Every time there was an event, my sister or cousins would record me and send the videos to her. It was our way of making her feel like she was still part of my life growing up.”
She added, “So every video from my childhood — those were really for my mom. Para sa kanya lahat ’yon.”
This emotional foundation has shaped Mika’s passion not just for performance, but for music itself — a passion she now hopes to pursue more seriously outside the PBB house.
“Niluluto na po,” she beamed when asked about her upcoming music project. “Sobrang excited ko kasi finally, I get to work on an album — and yes, ‘Sino Nga Ba Siya’ will be part of it.”
From viral covers to original tracks, Mika’s upcoming album is shaping up to be a love letter to her younger self, her fans, and most especially to her mother, Mommy Bambie, whose sacrifices continue to fuel Mika’s dreams.
Beyond music, Mika is also solidifying her place on the acting stage. She currently stars as Anaca in Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre, a powerful role that proves her versatility as both an actress and a performer.
