The U.S. Embassy in Manila has announced plans for a new boat maintenance facility at Naval Detachment Oyster Bay, Palawan, Philippines, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the U.S.-Philippine alliance. The announcement follows a public solicitation issued by the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command on 7 July for the design and construction of the facility.

The new facility will provide repair and maintenance capabilities for several small Philippine military watercraft. It will feature two multi-purpose interior rooms suitable for equipment storage or conference use. The U.S. Embassy emphasized that the facility is not a military base but a targeted infrastructure project to support the Philippine military’s operational needs.

The project has been approved by the Philippine government and complies with all applicable U.S. and Philippine rules and regulations. This initiative underscores the enduring partnership between the two nations, rooted in the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty, which continues to promote peace, security, and a free, open, and resilient Indo-Pacific region.

The U.S. Embassy noted that all military activities in the Philippines are conducted in full coordination with Philippine allies. The project is currently in the solicitation phase, and no further details or photos are available at this time.
