Rain or Shine beefed up its lineup for the coming 50th Season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) by signing guard Stanley Pringle.
The 11-year veteran, who last played for Terrafirma, inked a two-year deal and was approved by the PBA Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday.
Pringle will suit up with his fourth team in the pros since his selection as the top overall pick by Globalport in the 2014 Draft.
The four-time PBA champion will bring a wealth of experience to a youth-laden team bannered by Adrian Nocum, Anton Asistio, Gian Mamuyac, Keith Datu, Andrei Caracut, Leonard Santillan and Jhonard Clarito.
Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao spoke true of his plans for getting key additions who will bring leadership, stability and added firepower to his team outside of the Draft following a fourth straight semifinal exit.
“We still can’t fully utilize our draft. I think our Draft might not be that deep,” he said.
“But we are also open to upgrading our team from other resources.”
Pringle has been listed as an unrestricted free agent after suiting up for the Dyip this season. Barangay Ginebra traded him to Terrafirma before the 2024-2025 Governors’ Cup along with Christian Standhardinger and a Season 48 first-round pick for Isaac Go, Stephen Holt and a first-round pick.
The 38-year-old Filipino-American is not included in the league-imposed freeze on all deals involving Dyip players until the sale of the embattled franchise.
Rain or Shine came up short of advancing to the season-ending Philippine Cup after falling victim to the grand slam-seeking TNT in six games.
It was the Elasto Painters’ third straight Final Four defeat to the Tropang 5G after also receiving the boot in the Governors’ Cup and Commissioner’s Cup.
