Frasco asks for Pinoy support at Wanderlust plum

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has enjoined Filipinos to support the country in its nominations at the 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards.

The Philippines is vying in three major categories at the prestigious and global award-giving body being bestowed by the United Kingdom’s longest-running and largest travel magazine, Wanderlust.

The Philippines is among the contenders for “Most Desirable Country (Worldwide),” one of the top honors at this year’s awards.

The country’s acclaimed destinations also made the list: Cebu is nominated for “Most Desirable Region (Worldwide)”, while Palawan competes in the “Most Desirable Island (Worldwide)” category.

“I would personally like to call on once again our fellow Filipinos, as well as our foreign friends, to show love for the Philippines by choosing it in the upcoming 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards. Let us show the world how our love for this country, teeming with natural wonders, a rich culture and heritage, and a people that are always welcoming to guests near and far, will help boost our reputation as a leading destination to love,” said Frasco in a statement on Monday.

Apart from the said nominations, the Philippines can also be chosen as a winner in subcategories within the Most Desirable Country category, such as Culture and Heritage, Nature and Wildlife, Adventure, Gastronomy, and Sustainability.

Wanderlust said it would expect over 200,000 unique votes for this year’s awards, and the magazine said the results would be “decided by public vote from the Wanderlust readers. “

To be able to vote for the Philippines in the 2025 Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, netizens must complete the form provided at https://wanderlusttravelawards.com/, according to the magazine. They should also follow their Facebook and Instagram pages. Voting is open until 27 October 2025.

Frasco welcomed the nominations, saying they affirm the efforts to further elevate the country’s standing as a premier destination for tourists and travelers.

“These nominations inspire not only us in the Department of Tourism, but also everyone in our country’s tourism sector to persist in our mission to share with the world the Philippines’ beauty in terms of nature, heritage, and culture, and also the warmth of our people,” said the Tourism Chief.

The awarding ceremony will be held on 5 November 2025, at the National Gallery in London.
