Several local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila and nearby provinces suspended classes on Thursday, 10 July, due to persistent heavy rains.
In Marikina City, the Public Information Office announced the suspension of classes at all levels, both public and private, early Thursday morning.
The city government emphasized the importance of public safety, stating, "Mahalaga ang kaligtasan ng bawat isang taga-Marikina lalo na ng ating mga mag-aaral" (The safety of every Marikina resident, especially our students, is important).
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported in an advisory issued at 2:00 a.m. that a Low Pressure Area (LPA 07C) remains inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). However, it has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Another weather system, a remnant of Tropical Depression Danas, is also being monitored outside the PAR. PAGASA said it is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the same period.
