The SM Group is harnessing its expansive retail network to drive meaningful social impact through the SM Store’s flagship advocacy program, Shop & Share.

Aimed at strengthening its community development footprint, the program has so far reached nearly 90,000 beneficiaries across the country – including students, farmers, youth, women, and children – by distributing curated retail items that address education, health, and livelihood needs.

From shoes and school supplies to agricultural tools and hygiene kits, Shop & Share reflects how a business-led initiative can translate commercial strength into community upliftment. SM Store utilizes all 77 of its branches nationwide as distribution channels, allowing it to extend its reach to far-flung communities.

This year, more than 15,000 back-to-school kits will be distributed to over 70 public schools, reinforcing the company’s role as both a retail leader and a community partner.

“Since its inception, SM Store’s Shop & Share program has enabled customers to take part in purposeful giving. It brings to life SM’s commitment to being a catalyst for positive change, rooted in the Filipino spirit of bayanihan,” SM Retail, Inc. President Jonathan Ng said.

In line with SM’s integrated approach to sustainability, the program also engages other units within the group. SM Stationery supports the back-to-school campaign, SM Fashion spearheads Share Shoes, Toy Express of Toy Kingdom runs Share a Toy, and SM Beauty is developing family hygiene kits for underserved households.

In December 2024, SM Store partnered with Toy Kingdom, SM Foundation, World Vision Philippines, Good Neighbors Philippines, and the Rotary Club to distribute 6,000 new educational toys to SPED schools and disaster-hit areas. Earlier, in September, it teamed up with Mastercard to open four digital learning hubs in SM Foundation partner schools, benefitting nearly 10,000 students and educators through improved access to computers and technology.

“As SM Store expands, we strive to grow with and for our communities,” Ng said.

“Through Shop & Share and in collaboration with SM Foundation, we go beyond building classrooms, helping nurture learners by supporting their broader educational needs.”

Additionally, SMAC, SM’s loyalty program, has supported food security initiatives through its collaboration with Globe’s Hapag Movement since 2022, mobilizing SMAC members and retail partners across multiple brands including SM Appliance Center, Kultura, Our Home, Surplus, and Crate and Barrel.
