Seven senators from the Duterte bloc have expressed their support for Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero to remain as Senate President for the 20th Congress, Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa said on Wednesday.
Aside from Dela Rosa, members of the Duterte bloc , or “Duter7,” include Senators Christopher “Bong” Go, Robin Padilla, Rodante Marcoleta, Mark Villar, Camille Villar, and Imee Marcos.
Dela Rosa revealed that he had already signed a resolution backing Escudero’s continued leadership but was unsure if his fellow members had done the same.
“I don’t know if the others have signed yet. I’ve already signed,” he said.
Explaining his support, Dela Rosa said he appreciated Escudero’s leadership style.
“I didn’t ask for anything. Nothing was promised to me either. I just liked the way he handled things with us in the Senate. His leadership is very open to everything. He’s not close-minded,” Dela Rosa said.
