The newly activated Matab-ang Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Barangay Granada is set to double its output to 6 million liters per day (MLD) by the end of the year as PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. and the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) racee to scale up Bacolod’s water supply.

“Our commitment is not just to restore, but to strengthen service delivery across Bacolod.

The Matab-ang WTP is a strong foundation, and we’re on track to increase its output to 6 MLD within the year to meet the city’s growing demand,” the Villar-led PrimeWater Management said on Friday.

Currently supplying an additional 3 MLD, the facility has already improved water pressure and service reliability in Barangays 27, 28, 29, 30, Villamonte, Estefania, and Mandalagan.

About 5,000 households are benefiting, with another 5,000 expected to be served once full capacity is reached.

The plant was developed under the joint venture between PrimeWater and BACIWA, which seeks to modernize Bacolod’s water infrastructure through sustained investments in treatment facilities, distribution lines, and sustainable water sourcing.

Equipped with advanced filtration systems, the Matab-ang WTP ensures that increased output meets safety and quality standards.

Additional upgrades are underway to further improve system resilience and long-term service reliability.
