Some wealthy people bequeath part of their fortune to non-relatives.
Nicolas Puech, 82, is reportedly making his former gardener and handyman from Morocco an heir, entitling the latter to half of his $11-billion fortune.
Puech, owner of the luxury brand Hermes, has no wife or children. Estranged from most of his family, he plans to adopt his 51-year-old ex-employee and make him eligible for inheritance in accordance with Switzerland’s laws.
The owner and CEO of the messaging app Telegram is another generous man when it comes to sharing his wealth.
Pavel Durov is only 40 years old but already has a will detailing how his estimated $14 billion fortune would be distributed among his children.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Durov said he has clearly stated in his will that each child would receive $170 million.
The billionaire has six children with three partners, 36kr.com reports.
But he also anonymously donated sperm for 15 years, fathering over 100 children in 12 countries, according to 36kr.com.
Three of the children were revealed by Switzerland-based Russian Irina Bolgar last year and a daughter and two sons surnamed Durov were born in St. Petersburg in 2013, 2016, and 2017, adds 36kr.
There’s a caveat to the inheritance though. Durov said it will be given to his heirs 30 years after his death—to teach all his children to not rely on their bank accounts to live, according to the report.
