Marikina City Vice Mayor Del De Guzman on Monday said the city council, under his leadership, recognizes the crucial role of various stakeholders, including the community, in decision-making as regards to crafting of city ordinances.
De Guzman, a former mayor and congressman of the city, said the city coucil is to open for any suggestion from the residents.
"Ang city council ay pananatilihin nating bukas, kumbaga magiging consultative tayo sa konseho," De Guzman said in an interview.
De Guzman also said that he is open to cooperation with the administration, under the leadership of Mayor Marjorie Ann "Maan" Teodoro. He was the running mate of Teodoro's rival in this year's midterm elections, former Marikina City second district representative Stella Quimbo.
Meanwhile, Teodoro–a former representative of Marikina City's first district–was warmly greeted by her supporters who gathered outside and inside the city hall.
She took her oath of office at the Supreme Court with her two children and some newly-elected city councilors.
The first-term mayor has replaced her husband, former mayor Marcy Teodoro, who has been elected as congressman of the city's first district after successfully finishing his third and final term as local chief executive.
