Hours after touting a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, United States President Donald Trump lashed out at both countries Tuesday for reigniting hostilities, expressing particular frustration with Israel.

“They don’t know what the f-ck they’re doing, do you understand that?” Trump told reporters at the White House. “I’m gonna see if I can stop it,” he added. “I’m not happy with Iran,” but am “really unhappy with Israel.”

According to a report by Time.com, the latest round of strikes came just hours after Trump announced a truce between the two longtime adversaries, following what he had dubbed the “12 Day War.”

Despite the public ceasefire, Israeli forces were reported to have launched a new round of airstrikes at Iran, claiming Tehran had violated the deal.

But other sources said Israeli fighter jets did not strike back and did a mere “fly-by” in Iranian airspace.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that he had ordered the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to retaliate for the alleged violation: “Respond forcefully to Iran’s violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran.”

Around 3:30 a.m. ET, missile sirens sounded in northern Israel, which the IDF attributed to fresh rocket fire from Iran.

An Israeli official had told a wire agency that two additional missiles were detected and intercepted hours after the ceasefire was said to have begun.

The Israeli Embassy in London shared an image online of what it said was a rocket fired by Iran during the ceasefire, commenting: “Iran continues to show its true nature as a terror state and a regional threat.”

Iran, meanwhile, rejected the accusation.

According to Iranian state media, the country’s armed forces denied launching any missiles post-ceasefire and instead accused Israel of being the first to break the truce, citing alleged Israeli strikes at three locations inside Iran earlier that morning.

The report further claimed that Israel’s narrative was merely a “pretext” to justify renewed aggression and warned that further violations by Israel or the United States would be met with “stronger retaliation.”

“In light of the severe violation of the ceasefire carried out by the Iranian regime, we will respond with force,” said Israel’s Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir.

Some Israeli officials appeared to embrace the escalation. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security Cabinet, posted “Tehran trembles” on X. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir added fighting emojis.

Israel initially agreed to the ceasefire, asserting that it had already “achieved all of the objectives” of its military campaign, which began on 13 June and had resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Iranians, including senior generals and nuclear scientists.

Still, Israel warned that it “will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.”

Trump, who had earlier pleaded, “please do not violate it,” was furious by Tuesday morning.

In a Truth Social post directed at Israel, he wrote: “DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!”

Trump later said that the ceasefire was holding.

In a fast-moving series of declarations, the 79-year-old Republican, who was on his way to attend a NATO summit in The Hague, posted on his Truth Social app that “the Ceasefire is in effect!”

“ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt,” Trump wrote.

Iran violated the ceasefire, “but Israel violated it too,” Trump told reporters on the White House’s South Lawn as he departed for the NATO summit.

“I’ve got to get Israel to calm down,” he said. “Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen before.”

Both Israel and the US attacked Iran to stop its aspiration to arm itself with nuclear weapons.
