DEFTAC is set to formally open a franchise in Iloilo City this Saturday in a bid to promote the art of self-defense, discipline and grit through Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
No less than DEFTAC chief Alvin Aguilar will lead the inauguration of their latest branch at the third floor of the LBS Building in Jalandoni Street.
Aguilar, a member of the Philippine Olympic Committee executive council, will be joined by Asian Beach Games gold medalist May Masuda, youngest Filipina world champion Aielle Aguilar, DEFTAC Iloilo chief Zony Zaldarriaga and bronze medalist David Zaldarriaga.
“I am very excited to open our first DEFTAC gym in Iloilo,” said Aguilar, the first Filipino to wear a Brazilian jiu-con jitsu Black belt.
“I hope this gym will soon produce a lot of champions from Iloilo City.”
Prior to the grand launch, Aguilar and his daughter, Aielle, together with Masuda will hold a seminar at 9 a.m. to guide local practitioners on how to excel in the sport.
