Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday said she does not hold a personal grudge against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. but raised concerns about his leadership, particularly over the handling of former president Rodrigo Duterte’s case before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Speaking at the “Free Duterte Now” rally in Melbourne, Duterte said the political persecution she is facing is not an act of revenge from Marcos but part of political life.
Duterte said her main concern involves what she described as constitutional violations and “problematic” aspects of Marcos’ governance, specifically pointing to how her father’s arrest and detention in The Hague were handled.
“You convince the government of Australia because Australia is a member of the ICC to look into the case of President Duterte and the injustice that he is receiving, that he has been getting from the ICC,” she said.
Supporters of the former president have claimed he was “kidnapped” when taken into ICC custody.
“He didn’t keep any of his campaign promises, and that’s why people have problems with our president,” she added.
