ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has recognized this city for its 110 percent functionality in terms of the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children, the highest adjectival rating.
According to the DILG, the audit that the agency made showed that the performance of Angeles City has reached a high level of functionality.
Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said his administration will continue to intensify its anti-trafficking related programs to further protect the welfare of children.
“We will not tolerate such wrongdoings in our city,” Lazatin asserted.
“Kapakanan ng kabataan at kinabukasan ng SiyudadAngeles ang manganganib sa illegal trafficking at violence against women and children,” Lazatin furthered.
Since Lazatin took office, the Gender and Development Office, with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and Angeles City Police Office has assisted 6,213, through the VAWC desk.
To recall, city government has issued a marching order to ensure that VAWC desks in each of the 33 barangays are activated.
Lazatin also regularly convened the Local Council for Protection of Children to revisit and strengthen programs for the protection of children.
Meanwhile, the official thanked the DILG for commending the city to fight the seeds of illegal trafficking and VAWC, as well as the efforts of key offices to work hand-in-hand for the primary goal of the city — to eradicate trafficking in person and violence against women and children.
