Police have arrested two of three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old woman last Thursday.

One of the individuals in custody, identified by the alias “Jun-jun,” was apprehended Friday along Tampoy Street in Barangay Marulas.

Officials from the Valenzuela City Police said Jun-jun surrendered after his relatives informed authorities of his willingness to cooperate.

Police Major Randy Llanderal, Officer-In-Charge of the Valenzuela City Police Public Information Office, said that Jun-jun admitted to accompanying the victim, Jennelyn, to F. Bautista Street, where she was shot.

“As a result of our CCTV backtracking, our manhunt operation, and our public appeal, we were able to arrest the person who accompanied the victim to the corner to meet someone. There, he revealed the identities of the riding-in-tandem suspects who shot our victim,” Llanderal said.

Investigations indicate the victim owed the suspects P25,000 for failing to remit payment for illegal drugs.

Jun-jun identified the two suspects on a motorcycle as “Jeff,” the driver, and “Charlie,” the gunman.

Police operatives from the Valenzuela PNP and the District Special Operations Unit arrested Jeff in Barangay Canumay West.

However, Jeff denied involvement and claimed he does not know how to ride a motorcycle.

“That’s not true... I don’t know anything about what they’re accusing me of... I don’t even know how to ride a motorcycle,” he said.

According to the suspect, he didn’t know the riding-in-tandem individuals and had merely eaten with the victim on the day of the incident.

“She was just my neighbor... we just came from our house... we just ate at our house,” the suspect claimed.

He added that he and the victim remained friends even though she had allegedly stolen his belongings before.

“She stole a lot of things in our area... many people complained about her... she also took my stuff... USBs, things like that, then power banks... but she would return my things to me,” he said.

Meantime, authorities are still searching for “Charlie,” who remains at large. Witnesses described the gunman as wearing a white helmet, a sublimation long-sleeved shirt and black pants.
