Green and Smart Mobility (GSM) has officially launched an all-electric taxi service in the Philippines.

The launch at the Quezon City Memorial Circle brought together government officials, diplomats, and private sector representatives. Among those present were Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, Department of Transportation Secretary Vivencio Dizon, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III, and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

The Philippines is now the fourth market for Green GSM, following its operations in Vietnam, Laos and Indonesia. The company’s CEO, Nguyễn Văn Thanh, described the move not just as an expansion, but as part of a broader push to transform how people move around. “Our true goal is to ignite a real transformation, shifting from traditional mobility to an electric future that is cleaner, smarter, and more socially responsible,” he said during the event.

Starting operations with a fleet of 2,500 VinFast Nerio Green electric vehicles, Green GSM aims to provide quiet, smooth rides with zero emissions. The cars are painted in a distinct cyan, a blend of green and blue meant to represent sustainability and innovation.

At launch, Green GSM will serve 10 cities and districts in Metro Manila. Rides can be booked through the Green GSM mobile app (available on App Store and Google Play), by calling 02-7777-8080, flagging down a taxi on the street, or heading to select public pickup points.

The company says its prices will be competitive compared to conventional ride-hailing services. In addition, fares will be calculated through in-car meters and displayed in the app.

According to GSM, each car is also equipped with a system called Secure to Safe (S2S), which combines real-time monitoring and AI to improve safety and efficiency. This system is particularly designed to prioritize the comfort of vulnerable passengers such as women, children and the elderly.

Drivers, meanwhile, are professionally trained in safe driving, customer service and proper etiquette. GSM’s aim is to offer what it calls a “five-star experience” in everyday commuting.

To celebrate its debut in the Philippines, Green GSM is offering a promo with 500 Green Points (worth P500) to new users who register and take their first ride. These points can be used to get discounts on their first seven trips, valid from 10 June to 31 August.

DTI Secretary Roque called the launch a meaningful step forward. “It demonstrates that when people, planet, and innovation come together, the nation moves forward as a greener, stronger, and more future-ready country,” she said.

With the slogan “Hello Philippines: Move Forward the Green Way,” Green GSM says it wants to be more than just a transport option. It hopes to become a part of everyday life for Metro Manila residents, one that helps create cleaner cities and healthier communities.
