Two individuals previously arrested for falsely claiming ties to the First Family were apprehended again in Parañaque City last Saturday for illegal possession of explosives and firearms.
Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) head Brig. Gen. Eleazar Mata reported that authorities confiscated a block of C-4 explosives, multiple firearms, ammunition, knives, handcuffs and three bullet-proof vests from the suspects.
In a statement, Mata disclosed that HPG personnel stopped a black sport utility vehicle on Filipinas Avenue because it lacked a rear license plate and was using unauthorized blinkers.
A subsequent inspection revealed the contraband inside the vehicle.
The suspects were arrested after failing to produce the necessary documents for the items. They also claimed to be members of the Office of the President.
The charges against them include violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), Republic Act 9516 (Unlawful Possession of Explosives), possession of bladed weapons, resisting arrest, disobedience to a person of authority, concealing true names and obstruction of justice.
Authorities confirmed that the same two suspects had been previously arrested by the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for alleging connections to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s family.
Police are urging anyone who may have been scammed by the suspects to come forward and file charges. ENM
