Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist in parts of Mindanao over the coming days due to the continued presence of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
According to the Pagasa’s weekly weather outlook spanning until 20 June, the LPA’s trough and ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao from Saturday until Monday.
The rest of the country will experience generally fair weather, although localized thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon or evening due to easterlies.
From Tuesday, 17 June to Friday, the ITCZ will remain active and continue to affect Mindanao and Eastern Visayas, bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms. Fair weather is expected elsewhere across the nation, but isolated rain showers remain likely.
The state weather bureau said updates will be issued through its public forecasts and weather advisories in case of changes.
