As more Filipino fathers take the wheel of family life with intention and care, a noticeable trend is emerging: an increasing number are shifting toward electric vehicles. This Father’s Day, Kia Philippines spotlights this shift by putting the spotlight on two of its flagship EVs: the Kia EV6 and EV9.

Today’s dads are not just thinking about horsepower or aesthetics; they’re also thinking about their family’s safety, their environmental footprint, and how their vehicles support the day-to-day hustle. The growing popularity of electric vehicles among fathers speaks to this mix of practicality and purpose.

Leading the charge for Kia are the EV6 and EV9, two fully electric SUVs designed with family life and forward-thinking mobility in mind.

The EV6, Kia’s sportier, compact crossover, blends everyday functionality with premium features. It caters to the kind of dad who balances a packed weekday schedule with spontaneous weekend plans. With a range of up to 528 kilometers on a full charge, the EV6 offers peace of mind for both short and long drives. Even when time is tight, the EV6’s ultra-fast charging, enabling it to go from 10 perccent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes, ensures it’s ready to go when you are.

Beyond performance, the EV6 stands out for its interior setup: spacious, modern, and made with eco-conscious materials. A pair of large digital screens sits front and center, enhancing the driving experience, while features like blind-spot cameras, adaptive cruise control, and Kia’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system add both safety and convenience. That V2L function, which lets the car power small devices or appliances, is particularly useful for dads who enjoy outdoor trips or hands-on projects.

The EV6 also carries strong credentials. It’s not just about efficiency and design — it was named the 2023 World Performance Car, and comes with high safety ratings that make it a reliable choice for families.

For those needing more space or tackling heavier weekend gear, the larger EV9 fits the bill. With three rows of seating and a range of 505 kilometers, it’s built for long hauls and larger families. Comfort takes center stage with features like premium relaxation seats in the second row (complete with massage functions), and heated and ventilated seats in the first two rows, ensuring comfort whether you’re escaping the heat or braving a downpour.

There’s more to the EV9 than just space. Its 700 Nm of torque gives it solid pulling power, whether that’s for camping equipment or a small trailer. The SUV’s safety systems are also extensive, including lane assist, smart cruise control, a 360-degree camera, digital side mirrors, and a high-tech rearview mirror. It’s a vehicle engineered with families in mind.

It’s not just the spec sheet doing the talking. The EV9 recently received global recognition as the 2024 World Car of the Year, a nod to its design, usability, and family-first features.

The shift toward electric isn’t just about having the latest tech. It reflects broader changes in how many Filipino dads view mobility. Today, there’s greater awareness about sustainability, energy efficiency, and smart investments. With charging infrastructure gradually improving across the country and more financing options opening up, electric vehicles are becoming more accessible.

For Kia Philippines, this evolving mindset among consumers is something the company is actively supporting. Its current lineup includes not just the EV6 and EV9, but also hybrid options like the Kia Sorento and Kia Carnival, and fuel-efficient gasoline models like the Sonet and Seltos. The goal: to offer a range of choices that meet different family needs while still pushing for a cleaner, smarter future on the road.

To help more families experience these vehicles firsthand, Kia is hosting back-to-back events on 20 to 22 June at Ayala Malls Solenad 3 and 11 to13 July at SM Mall of Asia. The events will feature test drives, interactive displays, and activities designed for both kids and adults. And for those eyeing the EV6, there’s an added incentive: customers who purchase within June can avail of zero-interest financing through BPI.
