The next generation of Filipino triathletes is all set to showcase strength, speed and stamina at the RLC Residences IRONKIDS this Saturday in Subic Bay as over 150 youngsters gear up for one of the most anticipated youth endurance events in the country.
With fresh faces expected to shine, the boys’ 13-15 division is heating up with contenders like Bren Tongco, Kristoffe Nadonga, Nico Cabrera, Juan Rafael Jimenez, Jairus Mejia, Joash Lee Dait, Ralf Prima and Franklin Billedo all eyeing the top prize.
They’ll be joined by strong challengers including Nathaniel Ablin, Eziequel Estedola, Matt Morales, Iñigo Souza, Joaquin Villaflor, Jose Roque Saludes and Robin Ortega — all ready to conquer the 250-meter swim, 6-kilometer bike, and 2km run course.
In the girls’ premier category, the competition will be equally intense, led by the likes of Dominique Aragones, Margaret Bobier, Danielle Ramos, Kaia Gica, Alaina Bouffaut, Isabela Reyes and Japanese standout Yuka Nakamura.
“IRONKIDS goes beyond competition,” Princess Galura, president and general manager of organizing body Sunrise Events Inc., said.
“It’s about giving these kids exposure, building character, and nurturing the future stars of Philippine triathlon.”
The event is backed by RLC Residences, the residential division of Robinsons Land Corp. True to its name — RLC, which also stands for Raising Little Champions — the brand is committed to promoting youth development, wellness and family bonding through sports.
The IRONKIDS also serves as a prelude to the weekend’s main highlight — the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay — on Sunday.
Participants will be divided into age-group categories: 13-15 years: 250m swim, 6km bike, 2km run; 11-12 years: 200m swim, 4km bike, 1.5km run; 9-10 years: 150m swim, 4km bike, 1.5km run; and 6-8 years: 100m swim, 2km bike, 1km run.
Relay events are also scheduled for ages 6-10 and 11-15, along with run-only categories for both boys and girls in the same age brackets.
