Alex Eala’s stint in the Birmingham Open came to a close after a 5-7, 7-6, 1-6 loss against Linda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic in the Round of 32 at the Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham, United Kingdom early Wednesday (Manila time).
Eala, 20, lasted for two minutes and 53 seconds before losing against the world No. 152-ranked Fruhvirtova.
The Rafael Nadal Academy graduate also suffered an early exit in the women’s doubles after she and Rebeka Masarova of Switzerland lost 4-6, 4-6 against the Australian pair of Ellen Perez and Storm Hunter in the Round of 16.
Eala is preparing herself for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships on 30 June in the United Kingdom.
