Ram is an esteemed and notable interior decorator better known as the Prince of Maximalism. His signature indoor/outdoor aesthetic has its roots in Southern Philippines, where the interior decorator grew up under the tasteful sensibilities of his mother.

Best place to shop:

Yakan Weaving Village. Apart from colorful woven placemats, bags and runners, it is my go-to place for antique bronze trinket boxes and mini gadur jars.

Best place to stay:

Vista del Mar, with its pink bougainvilleas in full bloom and century-old acacia trees and cozy seaside cottages overlooking the calm waters of Basilan Strait.

Best advice:

Come with an open heart, no fear, and let your imagination run wild. Zamboanga is a treat to all the senses -- from the colorful iconic vintas, the pink sands of nearby Santa Cruz island and the delicious, bright orange curacha.

Best place to eat:

Alavar Seafood Restaurant for its famous signature Curacha con Alavar Sauce — a rich, savory blend of coconut milk and local spices.

Best places to hang out:

Once Islas (11 islands), an eco-cultural tourism attraction in Zamboanga City, consisting of 11 small islands with crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches and colorful and vibrant marine life.

Pre-war Rizal Monument in the city center and Fort Pilar (biggest Spanish fort outside of Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila).
