Cha Eun Woo to begin military service

Cha Eun Woo, the charming face of ASTRO and star of hit kdramas like True Beauty and Island, is officially set to begin his military service.

Earlier this month, fans were on edge after news broke that Eunwoo had applied to join the Army Military Band.

Fast forward to 29 May, and his agency confirmed that he's been accepted and will soon be trading in his stage outfits for a military uniform.

Whether you first fell for his dreamy visuals in My ID is Gangnam Beauty or swooned over his vocals in ASTRO tracks, it’s definitely going to be a long wait. 

Who is Cha Eun Woo?

Cha Eun-woo, born Lee Dong-min in 1997, began his career as an actor in the 2014 film My Brilliant Life before gaining fame as a member of the K-pop boy group Astro, debuting in 2016. Trained in acting and performing arts, he quickly became known for his good looks and charm, landing hosting gigs and roles in web dramas early in his career.

He rose to prominence through leading roles in popular dramas such as Gangnam Beauty (2018), Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (2019), and True Beauty (2020–2021). His acting portfolio continued to grow with projects like Island, A Good Day to Be a Dog, and Wonderful World. He also earned acclaim in variety shows, won entertainment awards, and contributed to multiple soundtracks, further expanding his influence beyond music and acting.

In 2024, Cha launched his solo music career with the EP Entity, followed by a global fan concert tour. He became the first Korean artist to win the MTV VMA Japan Global Icon Award and starred in a Netflix comedy series The Wonderfools. In 2025, he organized a tribute for late bandmate Moonbin and landed his first lead role in a feature film, First Ride, continuing to balance his multifaceted career in music, acting, and international projects.
