The sport utility vehicle (SUV) driver involved in the fatal car crash at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) entered a not guilty plea before the Pasay Regional Trial Court on Tuesday.
This, as the driver faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in two counts of homicide, multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
To recall, on 4 May, the 47-year-old man from Batangas was driving the SUV when it crashed into the Departure West Curbside Area of NAIA Terminal 1, according to the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP).
Authorities reported that the black SUV rammed into the departure area, resulting in the deaths of two people, including a 4-year-old girl.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon previously said that the other fatality was the young daughter of an overseas Filipino worker.
Three other individuals were injured and taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital. Among the injured was the mother of the 4-year-old girl who died. They were at the airport to see off the father, an overseas Filipino worker, before his trip.
Following the 4 May incident, personnel from NAIA Police Station 1 arrested the driver at the scene.
On 16 May, the AVSEGROUP said the driver was released after posting bail of P100,000.
