It's now three wins in a row for Gilas Pilipinas Youth after beating lowly Singapore, 101-37, in the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga Monday evening.
Everaigne Cruz dropped 14 points off the bench as six Gilas Youth players scored double digits.
Jhustin Hallare added 13 points and six assists for the Philippines while Ethan Tan-Chi chipped in 12 points.
Andwele Cabanero had 11 points while John Rayven Restificar, Travis Pascual, and team captain Jolo Pascual all scored 10 points each for Gilas Youth.
After limiting Singapore to a dismal 19.2 shooting percent, Gilas Youth head coach L.A. Tenorio was impressed with their defense.
“What I like about today’s game is really the commitment on defense,” Tenorio said.
"They don't just steal the ball but they played hard and aggressive.We were way better than the past two games."
Gilas Youth will take a break on Tuesday before facing Indonesia for the top spot on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the same venue.
