Alex Eala and Renata Zarazua of Mexico are off to a flying start in the French Open after a 7-5, 6-4 win over Emily Appleton over Great Britain and Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers of Spain in the first round of the women's doubles at the Roland Garros Stadium early Wednesday (Manila time).
Eala and Zarazua needed one hour and 30 to dispatch their foes and move on to the second round.
The 20-year-old Rafael Nadal Academy graduate picked up her first win in the main draw of the women's doubles of the French Open since becoming a professional tennis player in 2020.
Eala and Zarazua will next face Olga Danilovic of Serbia and Anastasia Potapova of Russia in the second round on Friday.
