It seems that Emiliana Arango of Colombia has Alex Eala all figured out.
World No. 69 Eala fell to Arango, 0-6, 6-2, 6-3, Sunday in her French Open singles debut at Roland Garros on Sunday.
Eala stood her ground for one hour and 46 minutes before falling to the 24-year-old Arango, who had also beaten her in the Miami Open qualifiers last year.
Despite her early exit, making the main draw of the French Open is still a huge feat for Eala since becoming a professional player in 2020.
Still, Eala is not yet done in the French Open as she will also compete in the women’s doubles.
The Rafael Nadal Academy graduate will join forces with Renata Zarazua of Mexico and they will take on Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine and Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania in the first round on Wednesday.
Eala has a score to settle with both Kostyuk and Ruse.
Kostyuk took down Eala, 0-6, 1-6, in the Round of 128 of the Italian Open last 8 May while Ruse won over the Filipino ace, 6-3, 1-6, 4-6, in the third qualifying round of the US Open last year.
