Kieffer Alas has gone the extra mile in making sure his training stint in Australia will make him an even better player by the time he tries his luck in the United States.
Veteran coach Louie Alas told DAILY TRIBUNE that his 17-year-old son has been utilizing the facilities inside the Warwick Stadium in Perth.
The elder Alas even said the former De La Salle Zobel star even has private shooting lessons with Warwick Senators head coach Andrew Cooper and high-performance manager Daniel Vlahov.
“They don’t have much scrimmages but he has a lot of workouts. The facilities here are really good,” the elder Alas said.
“He is maximizing the workouts here. Coach Cooper and coach Vlahov as well as Rob Beveridge are also helping with his shooting.”
Alas is gearing up for his debut for Layton Christian Academy in Utah.
With the young Alas suiting up as a point guard, he said he wants to make the most of his time training in Perth as he goes up against bigger and more athletic players.
“When I go to the US, I’m probably gonna be a full-time point guard there, so my passing, my dribbling, and my defense will be the main aspects to work on,” Alas said.
“Because in the Philippines, my main focus was scoring and rebounding, so I’m just gonna add those extra skills to my games to help me reach my dream of making it to Division 1.”
