Former child actors go daring in new age-gap digital series

Even though 'Si Sol at si Luna' didn’t make the final cut of the 2025 CinePanalo Film Festival, its resonance and depth were undeniable, prompting Puregold to champion it as a full-fledged digital series.

A quiet storm brews in the trailer of Si Sol at si Luna, the newest digital series set to captivate Filipino viewers.

The show stars former child actors Zaijian Jaranilla and Jane Oineza stepping into emotionally charged roles, marking their most daring performances to date.

Si Sol at si Luna tells the story of Sol, a passionate film student in the middle of his thesis project. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Luna, a woman still picking up pieces of a shattered heart. What begins as an artistic encounter soon unfolds into a deeper relationship marked by an age gap that complicates what could have been a simple love story.

The series is helmed by director Dolly Dulu whose keen eye for emotional nuance was previously showcased in The Boy Foretold by the Stars. In this latest project, Dulu creates a visual and narrative tapestry that explores longing, grief and the transformative nature of connection.

Even though Si Sol at si Luna didn’t make the final cut of the 2025 CinePanalo Film Festival, its resonance and depth were undeniable, prompting Puregold to champion it as a full-fledged digital series.

“I’m deeply grateful for the chance to bring Si Sol at si Luna to screens,” Dulu said. “Ang saya ko lang talaga (I am so happy), especially since it will be accessible to everyone on YouTube. It’s exciting that this is the first series exploring deeper emotional themes under this banner.”

The relationship dynamic between Sol and Luna dares to go where most Filipino series have not, diving headfirst into questions of morality, timing, and emotional compatibility.

Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, the project’s senior marketing executive, emphasized the team’s faith in the material. “Great stories have a way of finding their audience, no matter the path. Direk Dolly’s pitch moved us from the beginning, and we’re proud to give it the platform it deserves.”

This series joins a growing roster of critically and commercially successful Filipino web series, following the likes of My Plantito, 52 Weeks and Ang Lalaki sa Likod ng Profile. With its bold premise and strong creative team, Si Sol at si Luna could be the most emotionally resonant yet.

Set to premiere on 31 May, 7 p.m. on YouTube, the series promises to break ground not only in its storytelling but in the conversations it will spark. New episodes will air every Saturday.
