Did Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro take a jab at Las Piñas Representative and senatorial candidate Camille Villar amid the apparent tension between her and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.?
On Wednesday, Castro was asked if the President and Villar are still on good terms, given that the latter’s name was omitted from recent campaign rallies of the administration-backed Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, as well as the ongoing investigation into the Villar-owned PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation.
In response, Castro emphasized that President Marcos values public officials who are honest, loyal and selfless.
“First and foremost, the President wants people in government who are loyal to the people, committed to their duties, and not focused on personal gain. The President chose the senatorial candidates for Alyansa based on his beliefs. If anyone fails to meet his standard of loyalty to the people, that trust may be lost,” Castro said.
