VinFast brings the VF 6 to Phl

What VinFast VF 6 offers is pretty straightforward: It’s an all-electric subcompact SUV with just the right mix of premium features, everyday practicality and running costs that won’t make you wince. For many Filipino drivers, that might just hit the sweet spot.

Metro Manila traffic is a beast, and weekend drives to Tagaytay or Baguio aren’t exactly fuel-efficient adventures. What Filipinos need is a car that’s comfortable, affordable, and can handle the daily grind without breaking the bank. At this year’s Manila International Auto Show, the VF 6 made its local debut and quietly made a case for being that car.

As VinFast’s newest addition to its expanding range of electric vehicles available in the Philippines — including the VF 3, VF 5, VF 7 and VF 9 — the VF 6 offers Filipino consumers an attractive gateway into sustainable driving, following its success in Vietnam and positive reception in Europe.

In the Philippines, the VF 6 comes in two trims: Eco (priced at P1,419,000) and Plus (P1,610,000), both complemented by an attractive buyback guarantee offering up to 90 percent of the vehicle’s original value.

Deliveries of the VF 6 Eco in the Philippines are expected to start in May.

In the Philippines, the Plus trim is equipped with 20 advanced driver-assistance system features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and collision warnings. These technologies can reduce driver fatigue, particularly useful for the typical lengthy commutes, which are no rarity in Metro Manila and surrounding urban centers.

Those who’ve sat inside the VF 6 often remark that it feels more spacious than its compact exterior suggests, thanks in large part to its EV-first design. The wheelbase stretches to 2,730 mm, longer than some C-segment competitors, allowing comfortable seating for four adults, or even five. The suspension reportedly strikes a good balance between stability and comfort, particularly on pothole-riddled roads.

The centerpiece of the cabin is a class-leading 12.9-inch touchscreen that integrates seamlessly with smartphones. It supports remotely checking battery status, locating car, and pre-conditioning the interior temperature; these are all useful features given the Philippines’ tropical climate.

Range anxiety, a common concern for EV buyers, is less of an issue here since the VF 6 has an impressive 480 km range per charge (NEDC standard), making trips from Manila to Baguio possible without worry. And with VinFast’s partner V-GREEN aiming to develop 15,000 charging ports nationwide by 2025, the infrastructure is growing fast.

Perhaps most compelling is the VF 6’s value relative to gasoline SUVs, particularly when factoring in significantly lower maintenance costs. With no oil changes required, and substantially cheaper electricity compared to gasoline, the savings are significant over long-term. One VF 6 owner in Vietnam reported spending only 300,000 VND (around P750) for maintenance after driving 12,000 kilometers, lower than typical motorcycle maintenance costs.

To further strengthen its value proposition, VinFast offers one of the best warranties in the Philippine market: seven years or 160,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. With strategic partnerships with trusted local automotive service providers such as Motech and JIGA, VinFast aims to establish 100 authorized service centers nationwide by the end of 2025.

Performance-wise, the VF 6 delivers robust power, offering 150 kW and torque up to 310 Nm in its Plus variant, perfect for confident highway merging or overtaking slower vehicles on provincial roads.
