Watsons goes green in BGC

Your top health, wellness and beauty destination just leveled up. Watsons is turning four of its Bonifacio Global City branches into Watsons Greener Stores. It’s going all-in on sustainability and showing the rest how eco-friendly retail is done in the Philippines!

After launching its first ever Greener Store in San Pedro, Laguna last June 2024 (major win!), Watsons is now bringing the good vibes to BGC. It’s part of their mission to make shopping not just fab, but future-friendly, too. Think: Lower carbon footprint, less water waste, minimal trash and more eco-conscious product picks. Mother Earth would be proud.

What is a ‘Greener Store’?

Watsons’ Greener Stores in BGC High Street Plaza, Eco Tower, Bonifacio Tech Center and Forbeswood Parklane aren’t just regular stores they’re glow-ups with a purpose. And here’s the reason they are eco-iconic:

Serving in sustainability

Watsons is serving sustainability. These Greener Stores are walking the talk with major eco moves like recycling programs, waste reduction hacks and energy offsets. From the lighting to the air-conditioning, everything’s designed to be energy-efficient and kind to the planet. Even the shelves and fixtures are made with eco-friendly materials.

Shop smarter and greener

Bringing your bag? Big yes. Watsons promotes “Bring Your Own Bag” to help cut down on plastic. And if you’ve got empty skincare or shampoo bottles lying around, don’t toss ’em — drop them off through the Recycle for Rewards program and score points, vouchers, or even freebies.

Team Watsons is also trained on all things eco — from energy-saving tips to waste management — so they’re ready to help you shop responsibly. Plus, in-store signs and displays help you learn more about how your purchases can make a difference.

Eco all the way

From floor to ceiling, Watsons is all about sustainable materials. They use FSC- and PEFC-certified paper, boards and wood that are responsibly sourced. Even their marketing displays are now made with Solidus.

Powered by good vibes

These Greener Stores are saving energy like pros. They’re equipped with LED lights, smart meters and inverter appliances — and they go a step further by offsetting their carbon footprint with Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs). That means less coal, more clean energy. We love to see it.

Waste not, want not

Watsons is all about waste diversion. They sort and recycle what they can, repurpose electrical parts and even refurbish fixtures to use in other stores. Nothing goes to waste if they can help it.

Shop with a conscience

Green shopping is made easy as Watsons now offers Sustainable Choices — a curated collection featuring Clean Beauty, Better Ingredients, Refill Packs and Better Packaging, all responsibly sourced, all easy to find in BGC Greener Stores.

“Our vision is to create more Watsons Greener Stores, reducing our environmental impact and embedding sustainability into our daily operations. This transformation is not just about infrastructure but about fostering a culture of sustainability,” said Sharon Decapia, SAVP for Marketing, PR & Sustainability.

To learn more about Watsons’ sustainability efforts, visit any Watsons stores nationwide or shop conveniently via the Watsons app.
