World No. 72 Alex Eala was recently given the Premios Tanglaw trophy during a recent visit to the Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe Lhuillier in Madrid last 26 April.
The Premios Tanglaw trophy is given to individuals who contributed significantly to strengthening the ties between the Philippines and Spain.
Eala, 19, has been training at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca since she was 12 years old.
Since then, Eala won three Junior Grand Slam titles and made it to the semifinal of the Miami Open last March where she defeated big names such as world No. 5 Madison Keys of the United States and world No. 2 Iga Swiatek of Poland.
Eala recently competed in the Madrid Open last week as she absorbed a 6-4, 4-6, 2-6 loss to Swiatek in the Round of 64.
She is set to compete in the Italian Open which will take place from 6 to 18 May in Rome.
