A student from De La Salle Lipa Integrated School in Batangas won a gold medal in the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad 2025 last 6 April.
Zachary Herman Ilao, 10, emerged as one of the 884 students who brought home gold medals out of 5,175 online participants from all over the country.
He was part of the 50 first placers that topped the Primary 4 division.
With the win, Ilao is set to fly to Cebu City in September for the PHIMO Final Round in which top mathematicians from around the world will compete for pride and glory.
At the EMV Convention Center in Quezon City last year, Peerapat Pasoontarakarn of Thailand ruled the Primary 4 division with no Filipino finishing at the podium.
The Philippines, however, posted an overall haul of four gold, seven silver, and three bronze medals.
