Cebu’s dining landscape is expanding with the introduction of new culinary concepts, as SM Supermalls announces the arrival of international, Michelin-recognized, and first-in-Cebu food brands across its key malls in the province.
From established city centers to emerging lifestyle districts, SM Supermalls said it aims to provide curated dining experiences that cater to a range of tastes—from solo diners to large families—while highlighting both local and global influences.
“We’ve always believed that Cebuanos deserve nothing less than the best—and the first,” said Steven T. Tan, President of SM Supermalls. “Through curated dining experiences and thoughtfully chosen food partners, we’re transforming how people dine, gather, and connect in Cebu.”
One of the region’s largest malls, SM Seaside City Cebu has introduced several global food brands, including Hawker Chan, recognized as the world’s first Michelin-starred hawker stall, and Tim Ho Wan, the popular dim sum restaurant from Hong Kong.
Italian restaurant Cibo recently opened its first in-line store in Cebu, offering modern Italian cuisine. Lugang Café, known for Taiwanese staples such as xiao long bao, has also made its Cebu debut at the mall.
At the newly developed SM JMall, Japanese café chain Hoshino Coffee has opened its first Cebu branch. The brand is known for hand-drip coffee and soufflé pancakes.
Also making its local debut is Yakiniku Like, a solo-dining yakiniku restaurant that originated in Japan, offering quick-service grilling in a minimalist setting.
One of the mall’s major culinary highlights is the entry of Twist & Buckle, a churro shop recognized by the Michelin Guide for three consecutive years (2023–2025).
SM City Cebu has introduced ABACA Baking Company, marking the first time the local brand has opened a café concept inside an SM mall. The bakery and café, which originated in Cebu, is known for handcrafted pastries and comfort food.
Later this April, Starbucks will open a store in the mall featuring a new concept inspired by modern Filipino design—its first of this kind in the Philippines. Tavolata, another Cebu-based Italian eatery, is also set to open its first SM location.
In May, several more brands are expected to open, including Ooma and Manam from The Moment Group, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, known for USDA Prime dry-aged beef, and Nagi Izakaya, which offers a creative take on traditional Japanese pub fare.
SM Supermalls said the introduction of these dining options is part of its effort to align with Cebuano preferences, combining convenience with elevated dining experiences.
