Former Senator Kiko Pangilinan, during his homecoming in Marinduque, urged locals to support his Senate comeback bid in the May elections, highlighting his food security platform.
He recalled childhood memories in the province, including swimming in the Boac River and participating in the "putong" ceremony, a traditional Marinduqueño ritual.
Pangilinan, who has been elected three times in Marinduque, reminded voters of his corruption-free record. “You trusted me three times, and I’ve never been involved in anomalies,” he said in Filipino.
He urged voters to choose candidates based on integrity and a proven track record, adding that voting for corrupt officials is like “hitting yourself on the head with a stone.”
Food security
Running on a platform to lower food prices and improve food security, Pangilinan noted his success as food security czar, where he reduced rice inflation to 0.8 percent and overall inflation to 1.5 percent 2015.
He emphasized that political affiliations won’t matter once he’s back in the Senate, stressing that "hunger has no color" and that he’s ready to work with anyone focused on solving the country's problems.
