Discaya pledges vertical in-city housing

Pasig City mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya has pledged to build vertical in-city housing in Barangay Malinao for informal settler families if elected in the 12 May elections.

“Finally, the previously disputed land is now owned by the Pasig city government,” Discaya announced.

For years, many families in Malinao have lived in fear of eviction, she said. “They’ve lived every day unsure if they’d lose their homes and their future. But now, history has been made.”

Discaya, a 48-year-old businesswoman and charity worker, emphasized that the land — once privately owned — is now public, ready to serve the needs of longtime residents.

“This land will finally give families the dignity they deserve. Not just a shack, but a home — with walls of security and a roof of hope,” she said.

Discaya promised that the housing project would not be a mere campaign promise but a fully funded and implemented plan. “This is an affirmation that every Filipino deserves a home.”

She stressed that the initiative in Barangay Malinao marks a new chapter — not one of eviction, but of empowerment and cooperation.
